Harold The Doll // 185 // Part 2 // Haunted

Harold The Doll // 185 // Part 2 // Haunted

Harold the Doll was listed on eBay in 2003 with an interesting backstory.  He became a sensation when people began experiencing headaches, back pain, illness, or even death after being around him, or even seeing his picture.  Anthony Quinata became the final owner of the doll in 2004, and he discovered that there may be multiple spirits trapped inside.  Please be respectful of the doll, do not taunt him, and listen at your own risk!

Greg acquired Harold the Doll and wrote a pretty interesting backstory for him on the eBay auction.  He sold the doll to Kathy because she wanted to learn doll restoration.  Suddenly, several people in her life were becoming sick and suffering from back issues and she was getting scared, so she sold the doll on eBay to Anthony Quinata.  He absolutely did not believe the doll was haunted, but he thought it would be interesting to do some tests on it.  His friend April did a psychic reading with Harold and after she mentioned that a molested child, a child molester, or both were trapped in the doll, she heard the doll threaten her life.  Anthony’s friend Diane also tried to do a reading and she ended up with a bite mark and a black eye.  At the end of part 1, Anthony decided to break out the Ouija board and the doll said its name was AHMED, but a voice corrected the name to Adam when he listened back to the recording and his friend Heather got long scratches down her side during the session.  Harold the doll had been lashing out at others, but he hadn’t gone after Anthony yet.

One day, Anthony was playing Xbox games and when he moved his chair back, his knee gave out.  There was no pain, but it just didn’t support him.  The next day, when he was out walking, he dropped to the ground.  He had a feeling that he had torn his meniscus, but he didn’t even know what a meniscus was. He had to get surgery and do physical therapy to correct it.  The doctors couldn’t explain how his tear was so severe, but he was still able to walk, it didn’t make sense.  While he was healing, he got another idea.  He wanted to take Harold to visit a psychic, Peter James.  At the time, this psychic was doing ghost tours on the Queen Mary Ship.  Anthony planned to fly to Los Angeles, do the Queen Mary tour with James, then just ask him to do a reading with the doll.

On the day of his flight, he was getting ready to leave his home, when he felt a presence of a woman standing behind him.  He saw a clear vision of an airplane exploding, breaking in half, and falling into the ocean.  When the vision was over, he saw Harold, sitting on top of his bag.  Harold clearly disapproved of being read by Peter James and this time, Anthony got the message, loud and clear.  He locked the doll away in a storage unit in Denver, Colorado and that’s where he stayed for the next 8 years.

One day, a friend posted on Anthony’s facebook that they found a doll at a flea market that reminded them of Harold.  People started commenting on the post, who’s Harold?  Once he provided an explanation, they asked him to post a picture, which he did.  Right away, people started commenting on the post and they were complaining about headaches and stomach pains.  They said that Anthony should have warned them about how powerful a picture of him could be.  One woman said the doll was ugly and the next day, she messaged Anthony to say that she fell asleep that night and when she woke up, she felt like Harold was staring at her and she wrote, “I was so scared, that I couldn’t move for 10 minutes.”

Anthony asked the woman how she knew it was Harold watching her, did she see him?  She said she didn’t see him, she just felt his hatred.  She was finally able to get herself out of bed and she burned sage to cleanse the house.  When she was sure that she couldn’t feel his energy any longer, she poured sea salt outside the perimeter of her house.  The woman said she was terrified and then she blocked Anthony on Facebook.  Anthony removed the post and picture off facebook because it was getting such a negative reaction and one person said it was the darkest energy she had ever encountered and when she saw the photo, her throat started to tighten.

Anthony had tried to keep Harold hidden from the public so people’s interest in him would die down.  Since he put that post up, the internet was starting to go wild again.  The old videos from Greg, the original seller of the doll, were starting to circulate again.  People were also posting false information and that’s when he finally decided to announce online that he had owned the doll since 2004.  Of course, the first thing everyone said was, prove it.  Anthony went to the store and bought a USA Today newspaper with a current date, and took a picture of Harold with it.  As soon as he was out, people began getting sick, so Anthony put the doll right back into storage, but Harold didn’t like that and Anthony ended up with a nice gash on his arm.

He couldn’t just let him get away with that, so he decided that he was going to try to get a psychic to read him again.  Anthony felt that he heard a very distinct male voice in his head, telling him not to do a reading, but he was determined.  During the ride there, Harold’s eyes changed from light blue, to black.  The psychic agreed to do a reading on Harold and she said, “First of all, I see a girl who owned this doll when she was around 10 years old.  She’s...I don’t know how to say this, she’s naïve.  It’s like she’s protected, or very spoiled.  Maybe even developmentally behind her age.  She has long hair, tied in the back with a bow.  Her hair is greasy.”

“I see the girl as an old woman now.  75 years old, with short grey hair, wearing a white shawl.  She had rheumatoid arthritis,  and bony hands.  She’s lonely.  She spent most of her life isolated.  Her life was uneventful....content.  The doll maker, the person who made this doll, wasn’t happy....she was crying when she made the doll.  The doll maker’s energy is in the doll.  She came from a family of means.”

She said the girl was from the South and, “They were comfortable.  Like I said, the girl was either protected...not allowed to leave her home...or she was very spoiled.  Of course, I could be wrong about that.  The doll was made earlier in the last centurey and the woman owned her until the 1960s-70s when she died.”

When Anthony decided to do this reading, he brought a friend with him and she asked the psychic if Harold’s energy would change if he was repaired or in better clothing.  The psychic said, “The doll would still have the lonely energy attached to it even if it were repaired.  Changing the energy would be complicated.”  She suggested that they take the doll to the mountains or into a forest to release the energy of the doll.

So, after this, Anthony was like, well, maybe I should take Harold to the cemetery?  He set up a Tri Field recorder, asked some questions and tried to catch an EVP.  Absolutely nothing happened and he was feeling super discouraged.  He mentioned that Harold must not like the cemetery and the meter on his camera went wild.  When he listened to it, the EVP said, “They’re coming for me.”

Who’s coming?  Anthony wondered.  Well, he would need to go back to another psychic to find out.  He found two women who were willing to do a reading together, but they wouldn’t touch the doll.  They said he was happy now that he wasn’t locked up anymore and they could tell that someone had done something to the doll.  There was a time when the doll had seen happiness, but it had been packed away in storage for a long time.  They felt that someone may have fallen or died while holding the doll.  The girl that had the doll was from somewhere in the south, maybe Georgia.  They could see a plantation and a wealthy family.

There are some similarities in the different readings Anthony was getting, but there were also a lot of differences and he couldn’t figure out why.  He tried removing the crucifix from Harold and the psychic said that things suddenly changed.  Without the crucifix, she was able to pick up a male energy.  It was a young man that was trapped inside the doll, he had become part of the doll.  The little girl that she was sensing earlier was his half sister.  They had the same father, but a different mother.  His mother was Black and worked for the family, so he was the product of an affair.  They all lived on a plantation in the South.

The siblings were inseparable and the young girl was loved by her older brother.  There was a river running through the grounds of the plantation with a  tire swing hanging from a tree next to the water.  The kids loved to play on it, but the little girl fell out of the tree, fractured her skull and died.  The girl’s name started with an A and it sounded like Annabelle, but that’s not the exact name.  Her brother was blamed for her death and that’s why he was trapped in the doll.  The mother accused him of murder and there was a woman who practiced Voodoo who worked for the family as a housekeeper.  The mother told her to trap the boy’s spirit in the doll to punish him.  The psychic said that the plantation still exists and the people that live there, know the story of the children because it’s been passed down from generation to generation.  She advised Anthony to go to the plantation to set the boy free from the doll.

She said she could hear the number 3, it was very important. She asked him if he was planning to start a museum and he was shocked.  He hadn’t told anyone, but he was planning to turn his basement into a museum for all the haunted things he owned and Harold would be the main attraction.  After this reading, he posted pieces of it online, but made sure to remove anything that provided specific information.  He got many emails and calls where people would claim to have information about Harold, but most of them were lying.

Anthony eventually received an email from someone named Fiona and she said, “the next time you talk to Harold, tell him Audelle says hello.”  This caught his attention because Audelle certainly sounded similar to Annabelle.  He asked her why she would say that and she said, “I’ve had dreams of owning the doll you call Harold since I was a child.”  The woman said she had been on YouTube looking for songs and she saw Harold and immediately knew this was the doll she had dreamt about for years.

He decided to give her a call and let her tell her story.  The woman said that as long as she could remember, she had dreams of living on a plantation somewhere in the South and she was carrying the doll everywhere with her.  She had a brother that followed her and in the dream, the mother would call her Auralia Audelle and that’s when she would wake up every time.  In the dream, she remembered a river and her brother would push her on the tire swing.  She said that in the dream, she was six years old when she died.

The woman told Anthony that she was taking medication for her anxiety and the medication helped her sleep, but one of the side effects was that she couldn’t remember her dreams.  She said she would stop taking the pills to see if she could get anything from her dreams.  A few days later, she said she had the dream again and she actually had two brothers, they were both older.  One was Michael and he had blonde hair, just like her and the other brother didn’t look like her and she knew that was her half-brother.  She said they had the same father, but different mothers.  This is exactly what the psychic had told him.

She said that her half-brother was named Mason.  Everywhere she went, the doll was with her and she would even hold onto it when she was climbing trees.  Mason adored her and was always worried about her getting hurt.  Two weeks later, he heard from Fiona again and this time she said that she knew how she died.  She said she was climbing a tree and she fell.  She was laying on the ground and her hair felt wet, it was soaked with blood.  Mason was looking down at her and he was scared.  He kept saying he told her not to climb the tree because she’d get hurt.  Mason picked her up and carried her to the house where their nanny was.  Mason begged the nanny to help and she said whe would try, but she warned the boy that the girl’s mother would blame him for this.

Is this woman making shit up?  Is she the little girl reincarnated?  Were her dreams real?  Anthony decided he should speak to a doll expert.  He wanted to narrow down the timeframe of when Harold was manufactured.  The doll didn’t seem to be made by any of the major companies.  A composition doll collector wrote to Anthony and said the doll was most likely made in the 30s.  A man in New York owned all the molds that made the composition and hard plastic dolls for a long time.  The man would make knock off dolls of the popular ones that were selling at the ttime, and he would even sell them outside the factories of the doll makers like Madame Alexander.  He was able to make the dolls cheaper and people that couldn’t afford the big company dolls, would see him standing in front of the big companies, and they would buy from him.

Knowing that the doll was likely produced in the 30s was a big piece to the puzzle.  Now, when he talked to people about the doll, if their information didn’t match that timeframe, he could weed things out easier.  When Fiona messaged him again, she said that she found the tree from her dream and she showed him a map.  It was in the middle of New Orleans, Louisiana and Anthony knew that wasn’t right because there weren’t any plantations there in the 1930s.  She provided the name of the plantation, but when Anthony researched it, he found out that it had been sold to the Mexican Oil Company in 1914 and the company tore the buildings down.

Fiona had also changed the timing and said she remembered dying in the 1800s, but that couldn’t make sense if the doll didn’t even exist until the 1930s.  He’d have to look into this a bit further.  In the meantime, Harold was apparently targeting another friend of Anthony’s.  His friend called and said she saw a shadow in her house, things fell off the wall, then she had thoughts in her head that weren’t hers.  The voice in her head told her that she couldn’t tell anyone, or she would pay for it.  She described the shadow and it sounded very similar to the brother that Fiona had described in her dreams.  She said that the voice told her that she needed to ask Anthony for the doll.  She said no, she didn’t want the doll and he said someone would be coming to get him soon anyway.

After they hung up, Anthony thought, this is pretty insane.  Should he write a book?  Maybe he could make a movie about Harold?  His friend called him back and she said, Harold likes the idea of the book, but he doesn’t want a movie.  THE DOLL IS A MINDREADER!   After this incident, Anthony decided he was going to consult a team of investigators.  Lockdown Paranormal was a group of Deputy Sherriffs who worked in a county jail and they were interested in doing an investigation of Harold.  Spirits use electromagnetic energy to manipulate words, so the group brought the Ovilus.  This is a portable devise used to communicate with the supernatural.  It picks up the electromagnetic signals or radio frequecies through the microphone, then it plays them through the speaker and displays words on the LCD screen.

When the team used this on Harold, the words that kept flashing across the screen were APPLE and GUILTY.  Later, when the team was reviewing the EVPs, one of the men, Randy, heard multiple people screaming, then he heard a demonic laugh.  After he heard this, he fell to the floor unconscious.  He was out of work for the next few days.  He said that the screaming sounds sounded like several women screaming, then he heard the laugh and felt like he had been hit in the back and the back of his head with a baseball bat.  He was out for about 20 minutes, then when he came to, it took him another 30 minutes to get his body off the floor.  This group of people did not wish to ever be around Harold again after this incident, but during one of the EVPS, when they asked who are you, a voice said, none of your business.

Everyone that had come in contact with Harold had either stopped talking to Anthony all together, or told him that they would no longer be around the doll.  He decided to have a talk with him.  He told Harold that he was trying to help him and get him released from the doll, but he didn’t know what to do anymore.  That afternoon, when Anthony took a nap, he dreamt about Harold.  He and the doll were in a shack and the walls were covered with old, dirty dolls.  He could hear angry voices all around him and when he looked to see where the voices were coming from, he saw three men looking at him and the doll.  They were afraid and talking about Harold.  The men took off running and they had set the shack on fire.

Anthony barely had enough time to grab Harold and get out of there before it burned down and the men were shouting at him, but he couldn’t understand because they were speaking Spanish.  He could tell that they wanted him to leave the doll in the shack to burn and that’s when he woke up.  He had a strange feeling that something major was going to happen in his life.

This next part shows how Harold became so well known.  Anthony received a message from Kathy, the woman he bought Harold from.  She asked if he wanted to do a radio interview with Dave Schrader of Darkness Radio.  He felt like he could finally set the record straight about a few things, but he wanted Kathy to go on there with him, which she agreed.  The first person who auctioned off Harold was Greg and he later admitted in a blog that he made up the whole story about him being haunted.  Kathy admitted that she knew it was fake, but she bought the doll because she was going to learn doll restoration and she thought she could fix the so called “haunted” doll and resell it later for a profit.

After the interview aired, Anthony was contacted because Zak Bagans and Aaron Goodwin from “Ghost Adventures” were going to film an episode at the Island of the Dolls in Mexico and Zak wanted to bring Robert the Doll with him, but obviously the museum isn’t going to be down with that, so he thought Harold would be a good choice too.  Anthony said that he would allow it, but they couldn’t make fun of Harold, they had to treat him with respect and make sure that they didn’t harm the doll.  He was obviously very old and fragile, his left arm was falling off.

There was no interview with Anthony, so Zac Bagans didn’t really know anything about Harold, he just knew he was haunted and the doll was shipped to him for the show.  Zac took Harold to a psychic in Mexico City and she said there were 5 spirits in the doll.  She said that one of the spirits was a woman who had been in a psychiatric hospital, and she said it was dangerous to carry the doll around because you could get sick.

After Harold’s big debut on TV, Anthony decided to take him to another psychic and this story was wildly different than the other one’s he had been told.  She said there was more than one spirit in the doll, but the one she was picking up on was a little girl and her family was from Asia.  She had a Haitian nanny and the little girl called her Nanna.  The girl was afraid of her father because he was very abusive to both her and the nanny.  The girl had polio, so she had trouble walking and her spirit went into the doll when she died.  She had a high fever and couldn’t move the left side of her body.  She was a stubborn child, but she never got the love from her parents that she needed.  They lived somewhere that was ruled by Puritans, which was in the 16th and 17th centuries.

The girl didn’t have any siblings, she was 7, her name started with a J and she was seeing something like Julianna or Julia.  The girl was murdered by her father.  He hit her when she was on her side, then he slammed her against the corner of a dresser and tossed her on the floor.  The nanny was fired, and she begged to see the child’s body, but the father refused.  When she left, she grabbed the doll and put the girl’s spirit inside.  The psychic said that before Julia died, her and the nanny killed the uncle together.  Julia’s father trafficked children through the West Indies and he forced women into sex work to service the troops.  Her father told her that no one would ever want to marry her because she had polio.

Her father had a half-brother and he would leave Julia on the floor when she fell.  That’s why the doll was given to her, the nanny would try to comfort her.  But the uncle was nasty, so the two of them hit him on the head with something and he died.  There were obviously a lot of varying stories when people were trying to do a reading with Harold, and things only ramped up after the episode of Ghost Adventures aired.  A fan of the show, Larry, simply wished that he could help somehow, and, well, have you heard the old saying, be careful what you wish for?  Larry did a little research on Harold and that night, when he went to bed, he closed his eyes and saw a woman looking at him.

He opened his eyes and when he shut them, there she was again.  He couldn’t see her body, just her face, surrounded by a fog.  Then, he saw a face of a child next to her.  The woman’s arm was reaching out to the young boy as if he needed help.  Another face appeared and this one was badly burned.  He didn’t have any hair and Larry could feel the hatred coming from this man.  A large, muscular, veiny arm, reached through the fog and Larry opened his eyes.  When he closed them again, he saw two more figures in the background.  He didn’t know what any of this meant, but he sent a message to Anthony to tell him about it.

Around the same time, Anthony had a friend that was planning to draw a picture of Harold.  When she tried to draw the doll, she ended up drawing a horned figure standing behind four other people and its arm was holding them close.  There was a woman and two children and a shadowy figure.  She flat couldn’t draw the doll, the other images were coming through instead.  She was going to send the photo to Anthony when she was done, but she felt compelled to draw another image.  This time, it was a woman holding onto bars of a cage and her mouth was open as if she was screaming.  A 5 year old boy was in the cage screaming next to the woman and an older boy was next to them.  Theres a dark shadowy figure next to them who was chained up and a horned figure was behind all of them.  He had red glowing eyes and his arms were tightly wrapped around the outside fo the bars.  She could only see everyone’s faces, just like Larry.

Adults would tell Anthony stories aobut the people trapped in the doll, or they could see images, but children that came in contact with Harold would tell him things too.  One child who was autistic, felt very connected to Harold when he saw him.  He said the lady and children are scared because the black blob won’t let them go to the sunshine.  The child was in art therapy and he drew a black blob with red eyes and it was surrounded by four gold stars.  He said that’s what he sees when he looks at Harold.

The man named Larry that had the dream or vision about the people trapped in the doll, said he had another vision.  He saw 4 jars and three of them were glowing bright, but the 4th jar had a black smoke inside.  The black smoke was slowly leaking into the other jars and dimming their lights.  Then he saw Harold the doll and he said help them, then it all disappeared.

Another person that Anthony didn’t know reached out to him to discuss a dream she had as well.  Anna said that she dreamt about Harold and there were five spirits along with a demon.  In her dream, she was confused because she thought there were only four spirits and she asked who the fifth one was and the demon roared at her and slammed a green door shut.  She heard a small boy behind the door that said, “His name is Anthony.”  A woman told her to be careful.  Anna felt like the dream was very real and the door to her hotel room was green.  In her email to Anthony, she said that his soul depended on him understanding what was going on.

Meanwhile, the child with autism, named Vincent, was seeing more things.  He began drawing a blob in his notebook and he wrote the word DIE next to it.  His mother asked him what that meant, and he said it was a black dog that lurks in the shadows, and you can’t go near him.  He’s not the only one that mentioned a dog either.  When Larry fell asleep one night, he woke up to a dog howling right next to him, but he doesn’t have a dog.  When Vincent watched a YouTube video of Harold, he said her name is Charlotte, but she hates being called that, she likes to be called Lottie and she’s nice.  He told his mom that Lottie sings him to sleep.  Vincent’s mother also began getting scratches on her arm when she would go near her son’s room, especially when he was sleeping.

His sleeping habits took an odd turn when Vincent became convinced that he could see a man and a dog with red eyes following him, he was terrified.  He began hiding under his teacher’s desk at school and said he couldn’t sleep because of the bad thing in his bedroom.  He was swearing and acting out in such a scary way, that his mother had to have a priest come over to bless everything in their home.  This worked for a small amount of time, but then Vincent was having trouble again, he started speaking two words and it didn’t make sense to his mother, so Anthony suggested that she should have him write the words down.  He wrote Abadon (A-bad-un) and Apollyon (uh-polly-an).

This didn’t make any sense to Anthony and he throught the first word Abadon, was maybe abandon, but he was very wrong.  These words at all, they were names.  Abaddon or Apollyon (uh-polly-an) is a demonic being whose name means destruction.  In the Bible, he is described as an angel of the bottomless pit, meaning he is a fallen angel, so he is a demon.  A-bad-un is a name and a place, equivalent to Hell.  It’s a realm of suffering.

According to Vincent, there were two children and a lady inside Harold doll and there was also someone who pretended to be a kid, but he’s bad, and then of course, there’s also the bad thing that’s in there.  Anthony wondered how on earth he could release three of them, but make sure the two bad ones stayed tethered to the doll.

Anthony says the doll is absolutely not for sale.  He has received multiple offers over the years and the amounts have ranged between $100 and $50k, but his answer has always been no.  He says, how do you put a price tag on evil?  He plans to continue investigating the doll and what he believes are four spirits inside and one inhuman entity that owns the doll.  There are rumors that the doll will not burn, but Anthony says he doesn’t know if it’s true because he has never tried, and he doesn’t plan to either.  What if it releases everything?

If the doll was just haunted, he says he may have been willing to part with it, but knowing that it’s cursed or possessed just changes things.  He wouldn’t want to burden someone else with this and he also feels that it’s his job to release three of the spirits that are stuck.

Anthony Quinata got into the paranormal when he was 7 years old.  He said he would listen to his Aunt Sue, who was Japanese, telling ghost stories and folk tales from Japan.  It launched his obsession with ghosts and trying to find out if they really exist and he became a paranormal investigator in 1989, where he specialized in investigating hauntings, apparitions, and poltergeist activity until 2006.  One major goal that he always had for himself was to write a book, but for the longest time, he didn’t know what it would be about.

He founded a team called “The Rocky Mountain Ghost Hunters Alliance” and one of the members mentioned there was a haunted painting being auctioned on eBay.  He was like wait, there’s haunted items on eBay?!  He started reading the listings on there and that’s when he got the idea to write a book which he would call “Haunted eBay-Are you going to believe me, or your lying eyes?”  He started bidding on these haunted items and winning several of them.  He figured some would be fake, but he might get lucky and stumble across something truly haunted.

He could get the items and do his own scientific tests on them or take them in for psychic readings.  He bought several different items, but he knew he wanted to do a whole chapter on a haunted doll and that’s when he stumbled upon the listing for Harold the Doll.  When he’s asked if Harold was haunted, cursed, or possessed, he said it’s not any of those things.  He said Harold is unlike anything he has ever come across or heard about in paranormal literature.

This next part is truly horrible and will scare the shit out of Hanna.  We will be sageing the house immediately.  Anthony said that there was one time that he considered getting rid of Harold and that’s when it killed his puppy.  His dog Chance had a herniated diaphragm, and his abdominal organs were in his chest, but the vets were baffled by this because he didn’t have any fractured or broken bones, yet his insides looked like he had been hit by a car.  At first, Anthony didn’t think it was the doll’s fault, but then a swarm of flies showed up in the house while he was filming, and he said he could see the reflection of several apparitions including one with horns coming out of its head.  That was the moment where he considered ending this whole thing, but he didn’t want the doll to win, he decided he had to write and publish his book.  Harold the Haunted Doll by by Anthony Quinata was published in 2015 and there has been one update since.

On February 22nd, 2017, Anthony uploaded a vlog to YouTube.  He said that he was able to release the 3 souls that were imprisoned in Harold.  He said he plans to shut the chapter on this and he’s locking Harold the Doll up.  He gave the spirit called Harold a chance to leave with the other three souls and he refused.  He said that he and the demon he serves known as Abaddon (uh-bad-an) would not release the souls and they were going to be triumphant.  Anthony says he successfully released the three souls and left Harold and Abadon in the doll.
