James Byrd Jr. and Sam Bass // Texas // 9

James Byrd Jr. and Sam Bass // Texas // 9

This week, you get to hear how creepy Megan and Hanna were as children!  With a little bit of Blue's Clues and Veggie Tales sprinkled on top!  We eventually get to the real story, which unfortunately, isn't a laughing matter.  We will be talking about a very serious hate crime on James Byrd Jr in Texas.  We feel it's very important that stories like these are known because we are passionate about fighting racism and creating change.  But don't worry, we won't end on that note, we will also tell you the story of Sam Bass.  We promise this one really is more lighthearted!  If you need to pray for some patience, we understand, so do we!  Afterwards, grab a snack (not hard noodles) and tune in, otherwise you might miss us talking about our cats.....again!

Megan Hawkins :

Oh, hey

Hanna Hawkins :

Heller

Megan Hawkins :

welcome to our podcast.

Hanna Hawkins :

That was beautiful.

Megan Hawkins :

Thank you.

Hanna Hawkins :

I loved it.

Megan Hawkins :

That was a little song for y'all.

Hanna Hawkins :

It was just, I don't even know what to say.

Megan Hawkins :

Um, how about say your name?

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh, I'm Hanna.

Megan Hawkins :

I'm Megan. And I've actually been doing a lot of singing this week to our cats. I was trying to find something like appropriate for them. So I've been singing veggietales

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh, that's why you made me sing water buffalo

Megan Hawkins :

I did...I did make her sing that to them. Yeah, and then I've also been singing mailtime from Blue's Clues

Hanna Hawkins :

Of course you have. Oh my goodness. these poor cats.

Megan Hawkins :

Yeah. It's kind of like a blast from the past.

Hanna Hawkins :

Do you ever think of like, changing into like meows though murmur murmur?

Megan Hawkins :

Oh,no. Maybe I'll try that later. See what they think.

Hanna Hawkins :

Anywho.

Megan Hawkins :

Yeah, then I was thinking, do you remember how disgusting we were when we were little kids? Andwe would steal like those long spaghetti noodles and we would eat Blue's Clues apple sauce with the spaghetti noodles.

Hanna Hawkins :

Listen, I still eat those noodles. I do not give a fuck.

Megan Hawkins :

But with applesauce?

Hanna Hawkins :

No. But I did get kicked out of my friend's house once, like her mom freaking hated me. And she was so pissed because I ate a bunch of those. And like, we were eating them. We didn't realize that as we were munching they were like breaking almost, oh, like falling down to the ground. And we just we didn't really realize it and some noodles all over the ground, and we ate like, the whole box, her mom was so mad, and they never let me live that down. Every time I would come over from then on out, they'd be like, hide the noodles, Hanna's coming over.

Megan Hawkins :

Oh my gosh.

Hanna Hawkins :

So yeah, I'm blaming you for starting that now.

Megan Hawkins :

I don't feel like that was my fault.

Hanna Hawkins :

I feel like it was. You're the older one.

Megan Hawkins :

So?

Hanna Hawkins :

yeah, well you were leading man

Megan Hawkins :

I learned my bad behavior from you.

Hanna Hawkins :

Mm hmm.

Megan Hawkins :

I was an angel before you came along.

Hanna Hawkins :

I'm sure you were

Megan Hawkins :

Yes

Hanna Hawkins :

she's full of shit.

Megan Hawkins :

Oh my gosh.

Hanna Hawkins :

You're so full of shit.

Megan Hawkins :

Does this feel like our Harry Potter days to you like when I used to read? Yeah, I used to read to Hanna every night when she was little before bed, and we went through the whole Harry Potter series. And now it kind of feels like that again because I get to read you stories.

Hanna Hawkins :

You know, it's funny because I one of the places I work they're starting to do that with their kids. And that's immediately what I thought of was like I remember when I used to just come in there right before bed and then you I really do wonder how long it took us to get through them all.

Megan Hawkins :

Oh my gosh, it had to have been months.

Hanna Hawkins :

Because, I think you read all of them.

Megan Hawkins :

All of them.

Hanna Hawkins :

Yeah

Megan Hawkins :

All of the Harry Potter books I thought so. And then we of course read other things but I do remember that one because we both loved it.

Hanna Hawkins :

I don't even remember reading anything else to be honest. It Just all revolved around Harry Potter.

Megan Hawkins :

Mm hmm. Okay, I have another thing to tell you. And I want to tell you because it's like so stinking adorable, and mom will probably never listen. So I think we can get away with it. What? Okay.

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh, I know where you're going with this.

Megan Hawkins :

Um, actually, no,

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh, I don't?

Megan Hawkins :

No. But now I might add that in.

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh. Okay. Well, here we go.

Megan Hawkins :

So mom and I were out for a walk with the cats the other day. And we were just kind of talking. We were super frustrated about how the cats aren't getting along. We're not sure what to do. We've been watching Jackson galaxy for a couple weeks now. And we're just not figuring out how to fix this problem. And mom says, Well, you know, I've been trying to listen to these little podcasts every day where it's like, from church. Yeah. So it's church ones and she goes so for the past week, they've been telling us every day to pray for patience. And I said, Mom, I don't think it's working for you. You have been crabby.

Hanna Hawkins :

Yes.

Megan Hawkins :

And she goes, Well, that's just because I forgot to pray each time and I seriously, laughed for so long, and her and I just kept busting out laughing during our walk and going. I forgot to pray for patience,

Hanna Hawkins :

man. Me, too.

Megan Hawkins :

I keep telling her every time she like, gets mad. I'm like, Did you forget to pray for patience again?

Hanna Hawkins :

I think I need to pray for patience.

Megan Hawkins :

We all do right now.

Hanna Hawkins :

I'm definitely gonna use that on her though.

Megan Hawkins :

Oh my god, it was so cute. Um, but I think what Hanna was talking about earlier is mom's new thing. We got this little pom pom toy for the cats. And so every night we lign all the cats up and we do pom pom prayers.

Hanna Hawkins :

It is disturbing.

Megan Hawkins :

I think it's hilarious but the cats like it

Hanna Hawkins :

again. It's disturbing.

Megan Hawkins :

No, it's cute that she's praying with the cats.

Hanna Hawkins :

it is. I mean, it's cute, but it's just watching her run in circles and tap each cat on the head. with the frickin pom pom toy...

Megan Hawkins :

And that's why she's never gonna listen to our podcast.

Hanna Hawkins :

That's so true.

Megan Hawkins :

Cuz we're disgusting.

Hanna Hawkins :

That is so true.

Megan Hawkins :

Yeah.

Hanna Hawkins :

Yeah, good point

Megan Hawkins :

speaking of disgusting.

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh no if you fucking had another dream.

Megan Hawkins :

No, actually..

Hanna Hawkins :

okay. I just want to make sure.

Megan Hawkins :

Well, no, I did, but it wasn't disgusting.

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh, Good

Megan Hawkins :

it was really cool. Ah, I had a dream.

Hanna Hawkins :

Did you get to fly?

Megan Hawkins :

No, it was like time travel.

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh, Okay.

Megan Hawkins :

so I got amnesia.

Hanna Hawkins :

Did you peace out of this year?

Megan Hawkins :

Yes.

Hanna Hawkins :

Nice.

Megan Hawkins :

So, when I got amnesia somehow I ended up travelling back in time. And then people that were in current time or in the future to me, were leaving different notes and messages so that once I got there, I could find my way back.

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh, that's kind of cool.

Megan Hawkins :

It was really cool.

Hanna Hawkins :

That's kind of....Do they have a movie like that? That's kind of a cool concept.

Megan Hawkins :

I have no idea but if not, I think we should create that

Hanna Hawkins :

I mean, it kind of like the time traveler Time Traveler's Wife, but not really because they weren't really leaving notes and like helping him get back or anything,

Megan Hawkins :

right. Yeah. And then one of my asshole friends decided, since I had amnesia, he would leave and note that was using like the wrong name and wrong information to see if I would pick up on it. But by that time, I was remembering things I just didn't know how to get back.

Hanna Hawkins :

Holy Shit. Yeah that's actually kind of really cool.

Megan Hawkins :

It was. Yeah, I actually would have stayed in that dream for a while had I had the choice. It was cool.

Hanna Hawkins :

I liked that a whole lot better than people eating people's legs.

Megan Hawkins :

Yeah. If you missed that episode, roll back to that one.

Hanna Hawkins :

Or Don't

Megan Hawkins :

No, it's fun. But no today, we have a story that I'm not fond of.

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh, not light hearted this time.

Megan Hawkins :

Not light hearted. It's actually disgusting.

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh, great.

Megan Hawkins :

Hey, are you ready for that?

Hanna Hawkins :

I think I need a sip of my Margarita over here first.

Megan Hawkins :

This is from the state of Texas. And I seriously don't even want to talk about it. Sorry. But it's a hate crime. So it's important. It's just disgusting.

Hanna Hawkins :

And not wanting to talk about it really makes me want to listen.

Megan Hawkins :

So open up your holes. Get ready.

Hanna Hawkins :

I don't know if I want to open them up. I might close them down.

Megan Hawkins :

Yeah.

Hanna Hawkins :

All right, let's do it.

Megan Hawkins :

James Byrd Jr. was an African American man whose racially motivated murder in 1998 made national headlines and sparked legislative changes. James was born on May 2nd 1949, in Beaumont, Texas. His parents, Stella and James Byrd sr, raised their eight children in an East Texas community and their lives revolved around church. Stella was a Sunday school teacher, and James senior was a deacon at the Greater New Bethel Baptist Church, James Jr. sang and played piano and in 1967, he graduated from Jasper row high school as part of the last segregated class in its history. James Jr. had a very good Good academic record. But he didn't follow his older siblings footsteps by going to college. A few years after high school, he got married and had three children. Renee Ross and Jamie.

Hanna Hawkins :

I thought you were gonna have three R's in there.

Megan Hawkins :

Yeah, there's nothing cute that happens in this.

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh, I don't.... I don't think that's cute. I would mess it up so bad.

Megan Hawkins :

James Jr. worked as a vacuum salesman, but struggled with alcoholism, and spent a few years in prison for petty theft. In 1993, James Jr. and his wife divorced, and he returned to Jasper in 1996 and entered Alcoholics Anonymous. His friends and family described him as a friendly father and grandfather who is charismatic, musically talented, and generally well liked. He was also very well known around town and could frequently be seen walking around town as he did not have a car. On June 7th 1998, James Jr. spent the day drinking and hanging out with friends and family in Jasper. He was walking home when he was offered a ride from three allegedly drunk white men. Shawn Allen Barry, Lawrence Russel Brewer and john William King. Byrd was seen in the back of a truck bed between 230 and 2:45am.

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh good, drunk people giving someone a ride home.

Megan Hawkins :

Yeah. Good idea, folks. The three men drove the 49 year old to a deserted area. spray painted his face black and they beat him. They wrapped a chain around his ankles and dragged him down an asphalt road for over three miles.

Hanna Hawkins :

Okay.

Megan Hawkins :

I told you this is so gross.

Hanna Hawkins :

This is brutal.

Megan Hawkins :

I only did this story because it's very important to continuously talk about segregation and hate crimes.

Hanna Hawkins :

No, I understand it's just....

Megan Hawkins :

but it seriously, it's so gross.

Hanna Hawkins :

Yeah

Megan Hawkins :

investigators found Byrd's personal items scattered along the dirt trail and pavement. His body bounced into a ditch on the right side of the road, hitting the ragged edge of a concrete culvert. This severed the arm, shoulder, neck and head from his body which continued to be dragged for another mile.

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh my God!

Megan Hawkins :

I know. I did not sleep well after writing.

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh god.

Megan Hawkins :

Yeah. King Berry and Brewer dumped the rest of the body in the town's segregated black cemetery and went to a barbecue.

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh my, gross.

Megan Hawkins :

Yeah, it's unclear how long byrd was alive during this ordeal, but Brewer claimed that birds throat had been slashed prior to being dragged. Unfortunately, an autopsy suggests that he may have been alive for most of the dragging and was actually attempting to keep his head up.

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh, God.

Megan Hawkins :

He may have only died when his body hit the culvert and tore his head off. I maybe should have given a warning at the beginning of this. Like, you know, well, if you're listening to this podcast, you know we're gross.

Hanna Hawkins :

also Yeah, but

Megan Hawkins :

this one's This one's very, very cringy This one's gross.

Hanna Hawkins :

This is bad.

Megan Hawkins :

Brewer and King were well known white supremacists. And King was a member of the KKK and had several racist tattoos. He had jailhouse tattoos, which included Klu Klux Klan emblems, swastikas Nazi lightning bolts symbols, and he even had one depicting a black man being lynched from a cross.

Hanna Hawkins :

That's so fucking gross,

Megan Hawkins :

It's so fucked up dudes. I know, law enforcement was able to quickly recognize that this was a disgusting racially motivated hate crime. After the murder, investigators found a copy of the white supremacist Manifesto, The Turner Diaries and similar literature in King's apartment. On the day of the funeral, the Family Church was overflowing with over 200 mourners, including American civil rights activists, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton basketball star Dennis Rodman paid for the funeral costs and fight promoter Don King, donated $100,000 to support the family on May 11. 2001 Texas Governor Rick Perry signed the James Byrd Hate Crimes Act into law, which strengthens penalties for crimes motivated by a victim's race, religion, color, sex, disability, sexual preference, age or national origin in the state of Texas.

Hanna Hawkins :

Yes

Megan Hawkins :

right? Yeah, so important, but it's crazy that that just happened in 2009. I was

Hanna Hawkins :

I noticed that when you said that. That is terrifying. To be completely honest with you.

Megan Hawkins :

When police discovered James Jr's body. They searched the area and found a wrench with the name Berry attached to it and some of his belongings. Just a few months after the crime Brewer, King and Barry were all convicted of a capital murder. Well of capital murder, otherwise. Okay, Barry is serving a life sentence. And will be up for parole. In 2038 Brewer was executed by the state of Texas on September 21 2011. This was the very first time in Texas history that a white person received a death sentence for killing a black person.

Hanna Hawkins :

Whoa, whoa.

Megan Hawkins :

Mm hmm. James Jr. Son Ross Byrd publicly protested the execution, as he's against the death penalty. On April 24 2019. King was also executed by the state of Texas. According to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice king closed his eyes and replied No. When the warden asked if he had any last words. He maintained his innocence the entire time, and once even sent a letter to the Dallas Morning News, and it was later used against him. He claim that the evidence was circumstantial, and Barry was solely responsible for birds death. Prosecutors did present evidence that King was an exalted Cyclops of the white supremacist Confederate knights of America and regularly drew lynching scenes.

Hanna Hawkins :

Ewwwwww.

Megan Hawkins :

An exalted Cyclops is a position within the hierarchy of the Ku Klux Klan.

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh my god.

Megan Hawkins :

I didn't know I actually had never heard that term. The Ku Klux Klan, commonly called the KKK, or the Klan is an American white supremacist hate group, whose primary target is African Americans. This heinous hate crime ended up sparking a lot of conflict. In fact, members of the Ku Klux Klan and Black Panther Party started showing up around town, the Black Panther's practiced militant self defense and thought to establish revolutionary socialism through mass organizing and community based programs. The group's intentions were to improve the lives of African Americans that lived in poor communities. But many people viewed them as violent militants who were anti whites. The byrd family asked for peace and ask that justice be allowed to run its course. They didn't want James's death to lead to even more violence. James Jr's family established the James Byrd foundation for racial healing, which conducts diversity workshops, offers scholarships to people of color and runs an oral history project with more than 2600 personal stories about racism.

Hanna Hawkins :

Whoa,

Megan Hawkins :

mhmm.

Hanna Hawkins :

That's cool.

Megan Hawkins :

It is cool. On January 20 1999, the fence that separated the graves of black and white people in Jasper city cemetery since 1836 was torn down.

Hanna Hawkins :

Hell yeah.

Megan Hawkins :

This is the cemetery where Byrd and his mother were buried. The city has also created a park in his honor. The James Byrd Jr. Memorial Park.

Hanna Hawkins :

That is, like the park and everything is cool but....

Megan Hawkins :

yeah, but the story is heavy.

Hanna Hawkins :

That is a really really rough one.

Megan Hawkins :

It is. So since I hated it so much, I wrote another story.

Hanna Hawkins :

Another double whammy

Megan Hawkins :

A double whammy! Okay, I'm not even gonna attempt to tell you that it's lighthearted.

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh is this one lighthearted?

Megan Hawkins :

Yeah, I'm not gonna tell you. You're just gonna decide on your own.

Hanna Hawkins :

Yeah, cuz I'm sure it's not gonna be lighthearted.

Megan Hawkins :

You know what I don't appreciate that kind of negativity.

Hanna Hawkins :

Listen, last time you told me it was gonna be, their head ended up on a fucking stick.

Megan Hawkins :

Oh my god. One time.

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh no. And then his like skull got ground up.

Megan Hawkins :

Yes, but remember, it was also used for good because it healed somebody.

Hanna Hawkins :

whatever.

Megan Hawkins :

Alright, well, let's jump into the second one.

Hanna Hawkins :

All right, let's do it.

Megan Hawkins :

Sam bass was born in 1851 he was the fourth of nine children, and two had already died before he was born. The family had a successful farm in Indiana, and a good reputation. In 1861, Sam's mom died and his dad died in 1864. Sam spent the rest of his childhood living on a nearby farm with an uncle in 1869. Right before Sam's 18th birthday, he left Indiana and headed to Mississippi. He worked in a mill And also mastered poker, and the revolver. Sam eventually left for Denton, Texas and got a job with a sheriff as a farmhand and wagon driver. He was a hard worker and learn how to travel the back roads to get around. In 1874, Sam became a successful horse racer in his spare time. He eventually bought his own horse named Denton Mare. He was steadily winning races and raking in the proceeds. But in 1875, luck ran out and it fell apart. In December of that year, Sam and an associate picked up a job driving cattle from Texas to the railroad junctions in Kansas. The pair went to Nebraska, where prices were higher and kept the payments for the cattle. They traveled north into the Black Hills of the Dakota territory from mining.

Hanna Hawkins :

Jeez, they just went everywhere

Megan Hawkins :

they did. But this venture failed. The two men started robbing stage coaches for several months. Sam assembled a gang to help. In September 1877. Sam and his gang held up a Union Pacific passenger train during the night.

Hanna Hawkins :

Okay, what the shit? How did they go from like, bringing cattle back and forth to frickin holding people up?

Megan Hawkins :

This escalated real quick. He wants his money. He's sick of this shit.

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh my god.

Megan Hawkins :

They found $450 in the way safe and beat the Express manager with a pistol in an attempt to force him to open the safe that had a time lock preventing it from being open until the train reached its destination. They found some wooden boxes that had $60,000 worth of freshly minted $20 gold pieces

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh, just some wooden boxes.

Megan Hawkins :

They were headed from the San Francisco mint to In the eastern bank, this is equal to $2.5 million in 2019.

Hanna Hawkins :

Yes, please.

Megan Hawkins :

The group divided the gold six ways and split it up. They each had it in different locations. Sam narrowly escaped bounty hunters and US Marshals by pretending to be a bounty hunter himself.

Hanna Hawkins :

I'm the Dog, the Big Bad dog.

Megan Hawkins :

Oh, I love Dog. Sam convinced the man that he was searching for the bandits and he was hoping to receive a large reward. After four days he escaped the men. Three members of his gang were killed within weeks of the robbery. Sam added more people to his gang, and they held up two stagecoaches in Texas during the spring of 1878.

Hanna Hawkins :

Damn it, Sam.

Megan Hawkins :

Busy boy

Hanna Hawkins :

self control man

Megan Hawkins :

Right, You already got a lot of money just stopp dude.

Hanna Hawkins :

He's addicted.

Megan Hawkins :

They robbed four trains in calling and Dallas counties, and passengers describe the robberies as amateurish. And observers believed the gang was either nervous or drunk during the holdups.

Hanna Hawkins :

I mean, if we had a gang, we'd definitely be drunk the whole time too. So,

Megan Hawkins :

yeah, we can start our drunk gang.

Hanna Hawkins :

Yeah, we can. who's joining?

Megan Hawkins :

I mean, nobody can respond. Okay. During the holdups, they actually missed large stashes of money that the passengers were able to quickly hide. Texas Rangers put together a special group of magnifying Sam and his gang. The gang relied on Sam's thorough knowledge of the back trails that he learned previously. The Rangers Were getting desperate and began conducting a sweep through all residents suspected of harboring the bandits, a member of the gang. Jim Murphy was soon arrested at his father's house. He wanted immunity, so he struck a deal with the prosecutors and he turned informant and rejoined the gang. The Rangers took Sam and the game by surprise. While they were resting at Jim Murphy's house, Sam was struck twice. Once in his cartridge belt, and another in the stock of his rifle. He wasn't injured as he left the scene. it's rumored that he said, Hell boys, they'd hit me out last. Let's get out of here. The gang was planning a bank robbery in the Williamson County community of Round rock, Murphy sent a letter ahead to alert the Rangers in late April. By July, the gang reached Round Rock and walked past Rangers and deputies without even knowing after being there for five days, Murphy left the group and warned the Rangers of the plan. On July 19, Sam and two other gang members, Frank and seaborne went into new town to case a bank for the last time. Murphy stayed behind to alert officials while they were in town. a gunfight broke out, and a bullet hit a cartridge in Sam's belt and split in two part entering his back and passing out near his groin. The other part, lodging in his body.

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh, no

Megan Hawkins :

that doesn't feel good, I'm sure.

Hanna Hawkins :

That's a bad day.

Megan Hawkins :

Yeah. Oh, Jeez. seaborne had been killed during the shootout. And many witnesses say that Frank held the Rangers at bay with his gun and got Sam to his horse so they can make their escape. They began to ride off and a bullet hits Sam. He fell off his horse and Frank again. Held Rangers and citizens at bay with his gun and helped Sam back on the horse.

Hanna Hawkins :

What the shit?

Megan Hawkins :

they rode away.

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh my goodness

Megan Hawkins :

they rode away and eventually Sam was unable to go any further. Sam urged Frank to leave him and keep moving.

Hanna Hawkins :

Bye Sam.

Megan Hawkins :

A Few days later, Sam was discovered, propped against a tree. A searcher spotted him and when he approached, Sam whispered

Hanna Hawkins :

What?

Megan Hawkins :

I am Sam bass, the man that's been wanted so long. Sam was captured and refused to give up any information.

Hanna Hawkins :

He was alive?!

Megan Hawkins :

He's Sam bass. I mean, come on.

Hanna Hawkins :

What the shit? A few days later, he's discovered, like he's too weak to go..... Whatever. This dude's impressive.

Megan Hawkins :

On Sunday, July 21 1878. A doctor told Sam it wouldn't be long. It's rumored that Sam said, Let me go. And a few minutes later he said, the world is bobbing around me. He died on his 27th birthday.

Hanna Hawkins :

He said, byyyyyyyeeee

Megan Hawkins :

I don't, I don't think that's what he said....okay. The Rangers plan to take Sam's body to Austin to convince the Congress that they had finally caught him. This plan was shut down due to the summer heat and inability to find ice to pack his body. The Legend of Sam bass continues to grow. And it was certainly helped by a song, The Ballad of Sam bass that was written by john Denton

Hanna Hawkins :

What?

Megan Hawkins :

Yeah, his money still hasn't been located to this day. Did he hide his gold? Many people are still searching for it. Some people believe that the gold was hidden in a cave in East mountain at mineral wells. Another legend is that Sam held on to his gold until he headed to the Round Rock to rob the bank hiding the gold in a cave west of prairie Dell near Big Blue spring. Could someone have found that gold and never reported it?

Hanna Hawkins :

I wish I found it.

Megan Hawkins :

I mean, he certainly couldn't have spent all that money in just a few short months. It was a lot of money especially for back then.

Hanna Hawkins :

Like I said, I wish I found it. I can use that about about now. Not gonna lie.

Megan Hawkins :

Yes. I could use some monies. Indeed. That is, my stories.

Hanna Hawkins :

All right. Well, I mean, that actually was.... I'll take it as light hearted.

Megan Hawkins :

A little bit of an upper after the first one was

Hanna Hawkins :

Yeah, that was that first one was freaking disgusting and brutal and sad.

Megan Hawkins :

Yeah.

Hanna Hawkins :

So yeah, let's tryfor some Not so brutal stories next week.

Megan Hawkins :

Ummmmmm

Hanna Hawkins :

Oh, no.

Megan Hawkins :

I don't know. Yeah, I have no idea. We'll have to see what comes out of that Tiki cup a murder.

Hanna Hawkins :

Alright.

Megan Hawkins :

So thanks for Drinking The Cool Aid with us. Like us on Facebook. Tell your friends. Yeah. And of course subscribe on your podcast app so that you get notified when our new one is out. Byyyyeeeee......You forgot to do it, you're dumb!

Hanna Hawkins :

Unison :

Byyyyyeeeee

Megan Hawkins :

The story is.....

Hanna Hawkins :

*BURP*

Megan Hawkins :

You're gross, ewwww, I heard that in my headphones. Don't do that, you're disgusting. I thought we were supposed to brush our teeth before coming in, not drink pickle juice.

Hanna Hawkins :

Oops.

Megan Hawkins :

I brushed my teeth for you

Hanna Hawkins :

I didn't have that courtesy, clearly

Megan Hawkins :

Bitch....oh are you ready now?

Hanna Hawkins :

Yeah, I'm ready.

Megan Hawkins :
